Funk foundation - bring the family back

Enur (stylized ENUR) was formed in 2005 with his half brother, the renowned Danish designer Johannes Torpe . Enur's first album was the critically acclaimed predominantly reggae fusion album Raggatronic .

The self-titled 1984 debut album from the Los Angeles -based Red Hot Chili Peppers has been cited as the first funk metal or punk-funk release. [9] Faith No More , another Californian group who gained popularity in the mid-1980s, have been described as a funk metal band that also dabbled in rap-metal . [10] Rage Against the Machine 's mix of funk and metal not only included rap, but also elements of hardcore . [11] Certain bands not from a punk/alternative background, such as glam metal groups Bang Tango and Extreme , have also frequently incorporated funk into their musical style. [12] [13] Bands such as Primus and Mordred emerged from the thrash metal underground. [5] Primus, a band that crosses many genres, has been widely described as funk metal, though bandleader/bassist Les Claypool dislikes the categorization. [14] [15] [16] [17] [5] [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] [23] [24] [25] [26] Claypool has stated "We've been lumped in with the funk metal thing just about everywhere. I guess people just have to categorise you". [27] Living Colour have been cited by Rolling Stone as "black funk metal pioneers." [28] Entertainment Weekly noted in a May 1991 article that "Despite the rise of black rockers like Living Colour, the American funk-metal scene is predominantly white." [29]

Over the years, the members have reunited on occasion, but more commonly, two or three have gotten together with other like-minded funksters in an array of permutations. For example, Porter and Neville have joined with guitarist Brian Stoltz and drummer Russell Batiste, Jr. to perform as The Funky Meters. Neville can’t make some of the gigs? Switch the name to Porter, Batiste and Stoltz a/k/a PBS. Better yet, invite a noted keyboardist to join in such as Kyle Hollingsworth of String Cheese Incident or Paige McConnell of Phish. The Meter Men has been another grouping with Porter, Modeliste and Nocentelli joined by another keyboard player like McConnell.
